The Central Railways tendered a 1 MW rooftop solar project to be developed at the Central Railways carriage workshop at Matunga in Mumbai. The bid-submission deadline is July 3, 2017.
The Central Railways aims to reduce the fossil fuel based electricity load on the main grid and make the carriage workshop building self-sustainable from the point of electricity.
The scope of work includes, design, engineering, financing, procurement, construction, operation, and maintenance of the project for a 25-year period. The estimated project cost is Rs.80 million (~$1.24 million) and the successful bidder will enter a power purchase agreement with Central Railways for a 25-year period.
