In an interview on the sidelines of the Mercom India Renewables Summit 2026 held in New Delhi on July 1 and 2, Vishal Jain, Managing Director at August Energy India, said India’s commercial and industrial (C&I) renewable energy market is poised for strong growth, driven by supportive open access policies, rising electricity demand, and increasing domestic manufacturing. He said battery energy storage will become a key enabler for distributed solar as states such as Maharashtra reduce reliance on grid banking, helping improve grid stability over the long term despite short-term cost impacts.
