Airox Nigen Announces 2 GW Solar Module Facility in Haryana
The facility will use TOPCon module technology at the plant
December 11, 2024
Gurugram-based renewable energy solutions company Airox Nigen has announced a foray into solar module manufacturing by setting up a 2 GW facility in Haryana.
The facility in a 17-acre renewable energy Park in Rohnat will manufacture solar modules under the brand name Ahaan Solar.
The manufacturing facility will begin with an initial 600 MW capacity, expected to become operational by mid-2025. The full 2 GW capacity is planned to be achieved by the end of 2026.
The facility will produce high-efficiency solar modules to meet growing domestic and international demand. Airox said it has already received multiple orders for its solar modules.
The facility will utilize TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) technology, a next-generation solar module innovation. TOPCon modules offer improved efficiency, better performance in low-light conditions, and enhanced durability.
To support the “Make in India” initiative, Airox plans to use domestically manufactured solar cells, reducing import dependency and encouraging local manufacturing.
This renewable energy park at Rohnat will also house Airox Nigen’s 3 GW Aspire Hydrogen electrolyzer manufacturing plant.
India’s solar module manufacturing capacity has steadily risen over the years, driven by government policies and the rising demand for renewable energy. As of mid-2024, India’s cumulative solar module manufacturing capacity stood at 77.2 GW at the end of the first six months of 2024. India added 11.3 GW of solar modules and 2 GW of cell manufacturing capacity up to June, according to Mercom India’s research report, State of Solar PV Manufacturing in India 1H 2024.
The cumulative module manufacturing capacity under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) has reached 62,765 MW.
Solar cells will also come under the ambit of the ALMM order from June 2026, with the government introducing List-II for solar cells.
