Solar module manufacturer Waaree Energies has received a domestic order for the supply of solar modules with a total capacity of 1,500 MW. The order was received from a domestic customer engaged in power generation, transmission, and distribution.

The contract covers the supply of 1,000 MW of modules complying with the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) mandate and 500 MW of non-DCR solar modules, highlighting demand across both government-linked and open-market solar projects.

The order is classified as a one-time contract and is scheduled for execution during the financial year 2026–27.

The nature of the contract is strictly limited to the supply of solar modules, with no additional scope for engineering, procurement, construction, or operations and maintenance.

The inclusion of a 1,000 MW DCR component indicates compliance with domestic sourcing norms applicable to certain government-backed or regulated projects, while the 500 MW non-DCR portion caters to projects where such requirements are not mandatory.

Waaree Energies clarified that no promoter, promoter group, or group company has any interest in the entity that awarded the order. The company also confirmed that the transaction is not a related party transaction.

The company’s total solar module manufacturing capacity stands at 22.3 GW globally, comprising 19.7 GW in India and 2.6 GW in the U.S. It has a solar cell manufacturing capacity of 5.4 GW.

Recently, Waaree Power, a wholly owned subsidiary of Waaree Energies, commissioned two 1.52 GW solar inverter manufacturing lines, totalling 3.05 GW, at its facility in Sarodhi-Valsad, Gujarat.

In the same month, Waaree Energies commissioned an additional 1.5 GW of high-efficiency N-type module manufacturing lines at its plant in Samakhiali, Kutch, in Gujarat.

In December this year, Waaree Solar Americas, a wholly owned subsidiary of Waaree Energies, received an order for the supply of 288 MW of solar modules from Sabancı Renewables, a developer and owner-operator of utility-scale renewable energy projects in Texas, U.S.

In November this year, Waaree Energies received an order to supply 360 MW of modules from an undisclosed customer who develops, owns, and operates utility-scale solar and energy storage projects.
