Mumbai-based solar module manufacturer, Waaree Energies, announced it has secured fresh solar module supply orders for both domestic and international markets.
The company received an order to supply 210 MW of Domestic Content Requirement (DCR)-compliant solar modules to an Indian renewable energy developer.
Separately, its wholly owned subsidiary, Waaree Solar Americas, won an order to supply 2 GW of solar modules to a US-based developer and owner-operator of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects.
The Indian order is scheduled for execution in FY27, while the US order will be supplied between 2028 and 2030.
For the Indian order, DCR modules indicate compliance with government-backed or regulated projects.
The US order is for 2 GW of modules, indicating a large, multi-year pipeline requirement rather than a single small project.
Waaree has stated that the 210 MW DCR supply is planned for FY 2027, while the 2 GW US order is scheduled for supply from 2028 to 2030—suggesting the India order is a near-term project execution, whereas the US order aligns with a longer development and procurement schedule.
The company’s total solar module manufacturing capacity stands at 22.3 GW globally, comprising 19.7 GW in India and 2.6 GW in the U.S. It has a solar cell manufacturing capacity of 5.4 GW. The company’s 5.4 GW solar cell manufacturing facility is in Chikli, Gujarat.
India added 44.2 GW of solar module capacity and 7.5 GW of solar cell capacity in the first half (1H) of 2025, according to the Mercom India Research report, ‘State of Solar PV Manufacturing in India 1H 2025.’
The manufacturing capacity additions in 1H 2025 were primarily driven by strong demand from the large-scale solar project pipeline of 186 GW for 2025-2027. Module manufacturing capacity also increased due to the 2030 solar installation targets and policy-driven domestic demand for solar modules compliant with the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers.
Recently, Waaree Energies received a domestic order for the supply of 1.5 GW of solar modules. The order was received from a domestic customer engaged in power generation, transmission, and distribution. The contract covers the supply of 1 GW of DCR-compliant modules and 500 MW of non-DCR solar modules, highlighting demand across both government-linked and open-market solar projects.
Earlier, Waaree Solar Americas had received an order for the supply of 288 MW of solar modules from Sabancı Renewables, a developer and owner-operator of utility-scale renewable energy projects in Texas, U.S.
