Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has invited expressions of interest (EoI) to set up 2 GW of solar power projects in the Chitrakoot, Jalaun, Jhansi, and Lalitpur districts in Uttar Pradesh.
The last date to submit bids is February 10, 2025. Bids will be opened on February 11.
The scope of work entails survey, design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning with operations and maintenance.
UPNEDA has identified three locations with a proposed capacity of more than 50 MW, 11 locations with a proposed capacity between 30 MW and 50 MW, 56 locations with a proposed capacity between 30 MW and 50 MW, and 167 locations with a proposed capacity of less than 10 MW.
The projects will be developed on approximately 8,000 acres of government land. The sites are distributed across 158 villages in the four districts.
The developers must connect the projects to the nearest state transmission utility /distribution company substation.
UPNEDA will facilitate developers’ getting government land on lease, which will be allocated by the state-level committee.
The proposed capacity is based on the assumption that 1 MW will be set up in a four-acre for capacities greater than 10 MW. For capacities y less than 10 MW, a land area of 3.5 acres will be required.
Under the Uttar Pradesh Solar Energy Policy, 2022, UP has targeted adding 22,000 MW of solar energy by 2027. Of this, 14,000 MW is set for large-scale solar power projects.
The policy proposes the use of wastelands to set up projects.
In January, UPNEDA invited bids to set up floating solar projects at 35 dams and reservoirs in Uttar Pradesh.
In September 2024, it invited bids for 320 MW grid-connected ground-mounted solar power projects in eight locations in Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh. The project involves leasing 1,292.46 acres of land to the solar developer for 30 years for the projects. It has been estimated at a contract value of ₹19.39 million (~$231,129).
