TNPL Floats Tender for 1.1 MW Rooftop Solar Projects

Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers (TNPL) has invited bids for the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of 1.1 MW rooftop solar power projects at its mills in Kagithapuram, Karur Unit-I, and Mondipatti, Trichy Unit-II.

The last date for the submission of bids is October 27, 2023. Bids will be opened on the next day.

-Bidders must pay a non-refundable bidding fee of ₹2,950 (~$35.4). They must also furnish ₹1 million (~$12,011) as an earnest money deposit. The successful bidder has to submit a performance bank guarantee amount equating to 10% of the contract price within 30 days of signing the contract.

Bidders must be well-established manufacturers, or their subsidiaries, authorized representatives, or solar power system providers with a proven track record.

Bidders should have designed, supplied, installed, and commissioned a minimum of one project for a 1 MW (DC) rooftop solar plant within a single location in the last five years. The project should currently be in operation.

They should have obtained grid connectivity approval from TANGEDCO for at least one project with a minimum capacity of 1 MW (DC) for a rooftop solar project in the last three years. The approval should have been secured within six months to one year from the date of installation.

The winning bidder is required to assign two dedicated, experienced electrical engineers, with one engineer assigned to Unit I and the other to Unit II. These engineers will oversee the erection, testing, and commissioning and ensure the fulfillment of performance guarantees.

The power generation guarantee is set at a minimum of 16 million units per year for every 1.1 MW DC capacity. The successful bidder must ensure that the actual power generated aligns with the irradiation curve monitored by the weather station.

During the one-year performance guarantee period, the successful bidder is responsible for maintenance tasks such as cleaning the PV panels, regular inspections, monitoring, troubleshooting, and other necessary activities to uphold the system’s performance.

Recently, TNPL invited bids to install 2.2 MW of grid-connected captive rooftop solar projects under the CAPEX model atop its buildings.
