Tirunelveli Smart City Floats Tenders for 5 MW of Solar Projects

Tirunelveli Smart City Limited (TSCL) has floated two tenders to install 5 MW of solar projects in the district.
The first tender is for 2 MW of solar projects at the West side of the Tirunelveli corporation dump yard in the district.
Interested bidders are expected to make an earnest money deposit (EMD) of ₹1 million (~$13,521). A bid processing fee of ₹25,000 (~$338) is applicable. The last date for the submission of bids is December 9, 2020.
The second tender is for 3 MW of solar projects at the east side of the Tirunelveli dump yard in the district.
Interested bidders are expected to make an earnest money deposit (EMD) of ₹1.5 million (~$20,281). A bid processing fee of ₹25,000 (~$338) is applicable. The last date for the submission of bids is December 2, 2020.
For both projects, the scope of work for both projects include the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of the projects along with comprehensive operations and maintenance services for ten years.
To be eligible to participate in the competitive bidding process, applicants must have previous experience undertaking similar solar projects with a cumulative installed capacity of 1.5 MW or more for local bodies, the central government, state government, or public sector undertakings (PSUs). This applies to both tenders.
Prospective applicants must also have a minimum average annual turnover of ₹100 million (~$1.4 million) in the last three financial years. They must have a minimum turnover of ₹50 million (~$676,041) in the field of photovoltaics. All bidders must have had a positive net worth in the last year.
The minimum capacity utilization factor (CUF) should be 17% against the installed, rated DC capacity. The projects and all associated facilities must be completed within 180 days from the date of issue of the letter of intent (LOI).
Several smart cities in Tamil Nadu have floated solar tenders over the last year according to Mercom’s India Solar Tender Tracker.
Previously, Tiruppur City Municipal Corporation, also located in Tamil Nadu, floated a tender for a 2 MW ground-mounted solar project in Iduvai village.
Last year, Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi Smart City Limited also invited bids for the development of a 1.2 MW ground-mounted solar project at a water treatment plant near Vallanadu.
