Tamilnadu Petroproducts will procure approximately 13.2 MW of solar power from Navia Three Power (NTPPL), a special-purpose vehicle (SPV) of renewable energy solutions company Zelestra, as a captive consumer.

The company will invest ₹73.26 million (~$809,084) in tranches to purchase 26% of NTPPL’s equity share capital to qualify as a captive power consumer.

The SPV operates a wind-solar project in Tamil Nadu.

The acquisition is expected to be completed by September 2026.

Tamilnadu Petroproducts’ overall renewable power consumption increased by 42% in the financial year (FY) 2025 from FY 2024.

In its Annual Report 2024-2025, the company stated that 81% of its overall power consumption was from renewable sources during FY 2025. The company consumed nearly 105 million units of wind and solar energy.

The company plans to install solar systems of 230 kW and 442 kW capacity at its Heavy Chemicals Division and Linear Alkyl Benzene plants, respectively. These systems will start operating in FY 2026.

Solar power generation in India rose nearly 22% year-over-year (YoY) to 164.5 billion units (BU) in 2025, up from 133.7 BU, according to data published by the Central Electricity Authority.

Solar power accounted for 25.1% of India’s total installed power capacity and 51% of the total installed renewable capacity as of September 2025. The solar capacity installed increased by 7.5% quarter-over-quarter (QoQ) and 37.5% YoY. India generated approximately 38 billion BU of solar power in Q3 2025, marking a 20.4% YoY increase. On a QoQ basis, generation dropped by 11%, up from 43 BU in the previous quarter.

Recently, Ganeko Three Energy, another SPV of Zelestra, was among the winners of  Solar Energy Corporation of India’s auction to develop 1.2 GW of interstate transmission system-connected wind power projects across India under Tranche XIX. Ganeko secured 180 MW at a tariff of ₹3.68 (~$0.0407)/kWh.
