					</table><p>The increasing demand for TOPCon bifacial solar modules <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/faulty-installation-of-topcon-bifacial-modules-raises-fire-risk-on-metal-roofs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">raised</a> concerns among industry professionals about their potential for unsafe installation, particularly on sheet metal roofs. TOPCon bifacial modules, which are primarily manufactured in glass-to-glass format, are not ideally suited for installation above sheet roofs due to their structural and performance requirements. These modules are designed to capture sunlight from both sides, offering higher system efficiency. However, installing them on opaque, unventilated sheet roofs blocks rear-side exposure to light and traps heat. This limits power generation and significantly increases the risk of overheating and, in extreme cases, fire.</p>
<p>India <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/indias-wind-energy-installations-surge-113-in-q2-2025" target="_blank" rel="noopener">added</a> 1.6 GW of wind energy capacity in the second quarter (Q2) of 2025, a 113% year-over-year increase from 769 MW in Q2 2024, according to Mercom India Research. Capacity additions fell 13% quarter-over-quarter. Installations declined due to delays in grid connectivity, limited availability of transmission infrastructure, land acquisition challenges, and right-of-way issues. Gujarat led the capacity additions in the quarter with 1.14 GW. Karnataka added 363.6 MW. Of the remaining 134 MW, Tamil Nadu contributed 90 MW, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh added 23.1 MW and 20.6 MW, respectively.</p>
<p>If India must <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/union-government-must-fund-states-to-meet-indias-2030-clean-energy-target" target="_blank" rel="noopener">install</a> 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based energy capacity by 2030, the states would require a cumulative grant of ₹140.64 billion (~$1.6 billion) every year over the next five years, according to the National Council of Applied Economic Research. These funds must be devolved to the states by the Finance Commission in the form of green energy grants, considering the potential, installed capacity, and current trend in spending on renewables, it said in a report, ‘Public Financing for Renewable Energy Sector Development: Recommendations for the 16th Finance Commission.’</p>
<p>The City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO) <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/cidco-1-mw-rooftop-solar-project-go-green-cut-power-costs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">commissioned</a> a 1 MW rooftop solar project at its Vashi premises to cut power costs and meet its sustainability goals. The installation delivered by Galaxy Solar deployed half-cut mono PERC modules from LONGi and Panasonic (both 550 Wp), coupled with Solis 100 kW string inverters. The system is mounted on a Kalzip standing seam bracket structure fabricated in Al 6063-T6, minimizing roof penetration and ensuring long-term durability. CIDCO had an average monthly energy consumption of 200,000 units.</p>
<p>New Delhi-based waste and wastewater management solutions company Enviro Infra Engineers (EIEL) <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/enviro-infra-engineers-acquires-vento-power-infras-40-mw-solar-project" target="_blank" rel="noopener">completed</a> the acquisition of Vento Power, a company developing a 40 MW solar power project in the Bolangir district of Odisha. The total cash consideration for the transaction was ₹1.15 billion (~$13.37 million). The acquisition was carried out through EIE Renewables, a wholly owned subsidiary of EIEL, which has entered into definitive agreements with PTC India. The power generated from Vento’s 40 MW solar project will be sold at a tariff of ₹4.1 (~$0.047)/kWh for an estimated 18 years.</p>
<p>Geothermal capacity can potentially <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/geothermal-energy-could-meet-15-of-global-power-demand-by-2050-iea" target="_blank" rel="noopener">meet</a> up to 15% of the global electricity demand growth by 2050 with continued technological improvements and a reduction in project costs, according to the International Energy Agency’s ‘The Future of Geothermal Energy’ report. The geothermal energy potential is increasing as developers access higher heat resources at greater depths by exploring and utilizing newer technologies. Primarily, two new drilling methods, geothermal systems and advanced geothermal systems, are being explored.</p>
<p>Solar is likely to <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/solar-to-comprise-half-of-new-us-power-capacity-additions-in-2025-eia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">account</a> for more than half of the 64 GW of new utility-scale electricity that developers plan to bring online in the U.S. this year, according to a survey by the Energy Information Administration. Developers added 12 GW of new utility-scale capacity in the first half of 2025 and plan to add another 21 GW during the second half. Battery storage, wind, and natural gas power plants are expected to account for virtually all of the remaining capacity additions in 2025. Installing 64 GW in 2025 could set a yearly record.</p>

<p>Galaxy Solar said that space and access constraints at the site were addressed through optimized design, efficient planning, and close coordination with local authorities, enabling a robust and compliant buildout.</p>

This successful collaboration follows our challenging 300 kW RCC installation for them in 2020, which we completed amidst the COVID-19 crisis. 					</table><p>City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (<a href="https://cidco.maharashtra.gov.in/404#gsc.tab=0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CIDCO</a>) has invited expressions of interest (EoI) from developers to install 3.41 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar systems atop CBD Belapur railway station and its parking lot in Navi Mumbai under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The systems will be built under a gross-metering arrangement.</p>
<p>The selected bidder will be responsible for installing 1.06 MW rooftop solar capacity at the CBD (Central Business District) Belapur station and 2.35 MW at the station’s parking lot.</p>
<p>The work must be completed within 18 months of receiving the work order. The developer must enter into a power purchase agreement with CIDCO and will be required to provide comprehensive operation and maintenance for 25 years.</p>
<p>The last day to submit the bids is November 17, 2022.</p>
<p>The selected developer will be responsible for the survey, designing, financing, procurement or manufacturing, installation, testing, commissioning, and grid connection of the project for the contracted capacity and supply of power. CIDCO will provide support to get approval for the interconnection point with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company.</p>
<p>To be eligible, bidders must have previously installed one rooftop solar system of 2.7 MW or above in a single contract in the last five years, of which at least 1.3 MW should be grid-connected.</p>
<p>Developers can participate in the bid if they have installed two rooftop systems of  1.7 MW or above in a single contract during the last five years, of which at least 800 kW should be grid-connected.</p>
<p>Alternatively, developers will be eligible to submit bids if they have installed three rooftop solar systems of  1.3 MW or above in a single contract during the last five years, of which at least 600 kW should be grid-connected. All the reference projects should have been operational during the last twelve months.</p>
<p>Bidders must have had a net worth of ₹40 million (~$485,702) in the last financial year. They should have been profitable during the last three financial years ending March 31, 2022, and must have an average annual turnover of ₹95 million (~$1.15 million).</p>
<p>Earlier, CIDCO had <a href="https://mercomindia.com/bids-1-24-mw-rooftop-solar-systems-maharashtra/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids to set up 1.24 MW of rooftop solar systems under the net metering arrangement atop selected railway station buildings and bridges in Navi Mumbai under the PPP model.</p>

<p>The selected developer will be responsible for the survey, designing, financing, procurement or manufacturing, installation, testing, commissioning, and grid synchronizing of the project for the contracted capacity and supply of power.</p>
<p>The rooftop system should be connected to the grid through a service connection. The surplus energy will be fed into the grid under the net metering program at the respective interconnection points of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company before the scheduled commissioning date.</p>
<p>To be eligible, bidders must have installed one rooftop solar system of 1,000 kW or above in a single contract in the last five years, of which at least 500 kW should be grid-connected.</p>
<p>They can also bid if they had installed two rooftop systems of 600 kW or above in a single contract during the last five years, of which at least 300 kW should be grid-connected.</p>
<p>Alternatively, they can participate in the tender if they have installed three rooftop solar systems of 500 kW or above in a single contract during the last five years, of which at least 250 kW should be grid-connected. All the reference projects should have been operational during the last twelve months.</p>
<p>Bidders must have had a net worth of ₹13 million (~$157,875) in the last financial year. They should have been profitable during the last three financial years ending March 31, 2022. Bidders must have an average annual turnover of ₹30 million (~$364,318).</p>

<p>The project must be completed within 18 months.</p>
<p>The last date to submit the bids is November 17, 2022.</p>
<p>Bidders should have installed and commissioned one rooftop solar system of 3,300 kW or above capacity in a single contract in the last five years, out of which at least 1,600 kW should have been grid-connected solar systems. The project of 1,600 kW should have been operational for the last 12 months before the bid opening date.</p>
<p>Alternatively, bidders should have installed and commissioned two rooftop solar systems of 2,100 MW or above capacity in two contracts in the last five years, out of which at least 1,000 kW should have been grid-connected solar systems. The project of 2,100 kW should have been operational for the last 12 months.</p>
<p>Bidders can participate in the tender process if they have installed and commissioned rooftop solar systems of 1,700 or above capacity in three contracts in the last five years, out of which 850 kW should have been grid-connected systems. The project of 1,700 kW capacity should have been in successful operation for the last 12 months.</p>
<p>The net worth of bidders should be at least ₹70 million (~$850,402) in the last financial year, and bidders should be profit-making organizations in the last three years.</p>
<p>The annual turnover of bidders should be at least ₹170 million (~$2.07 million) during the last five years.</p>
<p>Last November, CIDCO had <a href="https://mercomindia.com/consultancy-tender-implement-solar-projects-cidco-properties/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids for consultancy services to prepare feasibility and detailed project reports and bid documents for implementing solar power projects on its properties.</p>

Bids Invited for 4.18 MW of Rooftop Solar Systems in Maharashtra

<p>The City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (<a href="http://utkarsh.cidcoindia.com:7083/sap(bD1lbiZjPTkwMA==)/bc/bsp/sap/zcrm_bot_portal/index.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CIDCO</a>) has invited bids for consultancy services to prepare feasibility and detailed project reports and bid documents for implementing solar power projects on its properties.</p>
<p>The last date to submit the bids is November 29, 2021. Bids will be opened on December 1.</p>
<p>Bidders will have to furnish ₹200,000 (~$2,691) as an earnest money deposit. Within 30 days from receiving notification of award, the successful bidder should provide a performance guarantee amounting to 10% of the contract sum in the form of a bank guarantee.</p>
<p>The bank guarantee will be initially valid for a minimum period of nine months. It can be extended for a further period before the expiration of the earlier bank guarantee until the completion of the contract, whichever is later.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: normal !msorm;"><strong>Scope of work</strong></span></p>
<p>The solar projects will be developed at railway stations, parking lots, metro stations, CIDCO office buildings, exhibition centers, skywalks, sewage and water treatment plants, roads and foot over bridges, public stadiums, lakes, and water bodies. The objective of the assignment is to identify the potential of renewable energy (solar) in the facilities of CIDCO and bring agencies on board to implement them on the ground. This is an initiative aimed at sustainable infrastructure development to address climate change.</p>
<p>CIDCO is the planning and development authority for the Navi Mumbai city, spread over 344 sq km covering 95 villages from Thane to Raigad district, conceived to decongest Mumbai city. The government of Maharashtra has appointed CIDCO as the special planning authority for Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area comprising 256 villages of Raigad District and 14 villages of Thane district encompassing about 561 sq km and the identified area of Palghar district admeasuring 103 hectares.</p>
<p>The consultant should have experience preparing detailed project reports of solar power generation for one project with a minimum capacity of 80 MW, or two projects, with a minimum capacity of 50 MW each, or three projects with a minimum capacity of 40 MW each in the last five years. The bidder should have completed the assignment as a single entity or lead partner in a joint venture in the previous five years.</p>
<p>The bidder&#8217;s average annual turnover during the last five years as of the bid submission date should be at least ₹1 billion (~$13.46 million).</p>
<p>The consultants should upload general information on the firm&#8217;s management structure and deploy qualified personnel to fill the key positions for the contract period of nine months.</p>
<p>In 2019, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation had <a href="https://mercomindia.com/maharashtra-consultants-solar-nagpur-mumbai-highway/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issued</a> a consulting services tender to assess the potential for the development of 150-200 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects along the Nagpur-Mumbai Superhighway (Samruddhi Mahamarg).</p>
