Sunsure to Supply Solar Power to C&I Consumers from 49 MW Project

Renewable energy solutions provider Sunsure Energy has commissioned a 49 MW solar project in Uttar Pradesh from which power will be supplied to commercial and industrial (C&I) consumers in a group captive mode.
Inox, Kajaria, Dabur, Wonder Cement, and ATL Apollo are among the companies that will procure solar power from the project in Augasi, Banda.
This is the company’s sixth solar open access solar power project in Uttar Pradesh.
The company has commissioned over 100 MW of solar open-access capacity in the state in a year.
The project brings the company’s total commissioned solar open-access projects in the state to 160 MW. The company also has 270 MW of solar projects under various stages of construction and development in the state.
The 49 MW facility is expected to offset 1.3 million tons of CO2e over its lifetime.
Sunsure Energy supplies green power to over 20 customers in the state., Sunsure Energy has 500 MW of assets under operation, 2.5 GW of renewable energy capacity under construction, and a target of 5 GW by the end of 2028.
The company also installed a 17.5 MW ground-mounted captive solar project within the Kapilas Cement factory of Dalmia Cement (Bharat) premises.
Last month, Sunsure Energy secured ₹2.26 billion (~$26.92 million) in long-term debt financing from Tata Capital to bolster its portfolio of open-access solar projects in Uttar Pradesh, which have a total operational capacity of 75 MW.
In September 2024, Lupin, an Indian pharmaceutical firm, and Sunsure Energy announced a 21 MW solar open access power purchase agreement capped at ₹105.53 million (~$1.2 million) and to be executed in two phases.
In the first half (1H) of 2024, India added 3.6 GW of solar open access capacity, a 153% increase from the 1.4 GW installed in 1H 2023, according to Mercom’s Q2 2024 India Solar Open Access Market Report. The capacity added in the first half of this year surpassed the total annual installations of any previous year.
