The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has updated the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) for solar modules, adding 9,326 MW of capacity. The cumulative capacity of modules under ALMM now stands at 109,545 MW.

India’s solar module manufacturing capacity under the ALMM reached the 100 GW milestone in August 2025, up from just 2.3 GW in 2014, according to Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi.

Emmvee Energy, a subsidiary of the Emmvee group, is a new entrant under the ALMM, featuring the TOPCon module technology with a manufacturing capacity of 2,229 MW.

Companies that increased their capacities include Avaada Electro, which added 2,893 MW, growing from 1,272 MW to 4,165 MW. FS Green Energies increased from 644 MW to 2,896 MW, adding 2,252 MW of capacity.

Cosmic PV Power moved from 185 MW to 1,302 MW, adding 1,117 MW, and Kosol Energie rose from 637 MW to 1,526 MW, an increase of 889 MW.

Loom Solar’s capacity has come down from 43 MW to 30 MW.

Module types in the September list include Mono PERC, Bifacial PERC, and N-Type TOPCon, along with features such as glass-to-glass and glass-to-transparent backsheet. Wattage outputs range from about 255 Wp for smaller full-cell modules to 710 Wp for advanced bifacial TOPCon modules.

Recently, MNRE proposed mandating the use of India-made wafers under ALMM starting June 1, 2028. The amendment proposes that all projects falling under ALMM’s purview must mandatorily source their modules from ALMM List-I. Such modules must also use solar cells from the ALMM List-II for solar cells. The cells, in turn, must use wafers from ALMM List-III.

List-II for solar cells will be effective from June 2026.

In August, MNRE added 8,797 MW of module capacity under ALMM. The total capacity stood at 100,232 MW.
