SJVN emerged as the winner in the Maharashtra State Power Generation Company’s (MSPGCL) auction to set up a 105 MW grid-connected floating solar project at Erai Dam Solar Park in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra.

SJVN bagged the project by quoting a tariff of ₹3.93 (~$0.047)/kWh.

The tender was floated in June this year.

After commissioning, the project will generate 230 MU in the first year and 5,420 MU over 25 years. The commissioning of the project will reduce 265,602 tons of carbon emissions.

The project, to be developed at the cost of ₹7.3 billion (~$88.21 million), will be commissioned within 15 months of signing the power purchase agreement (PPA) between SJVN and MSPGCL.

The power procured by MSPGCL from the project will be sold to the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company.

Under the terms of the tender, the successful bidder must declare the project’s capacity utilization factor (CUF) at the time of PPA, with the option of revising it once within the first year of commissioning. The declared CUF must not be less than 19% over a year.

Only commercially established and operational technologies can be used to minimize the technology risk and achieve the timely commissioning of the project.

In August this year, SJVN Green Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SJVN, invited bids from contractors to set up a 15 MW floating solar project at Nangal Pond in the Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh.

Earlier, SJVN Green Energy issued a notice inviting tender for the design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of a 90 MW floating solar project at Omkareshwar in Madhya Pradesh.

SJVN won 100 MW capacity by quoting ₹3.26 (~$0.041)/kWh in Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited’s (RUMSL) auction for the 600 MW floating solar park at the Omkareshwar reservoir.

Also this year, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation issued a request for proposal to commission a 1.5 MW hydroelectric power project and a 100 MW floating solar project at Morbe dam in Raigad, Maharashtra.
