Bengaluru-based SJS Enterprises will procure up to 3.6 million units of power annually from DB Renews’ 27 MW wind power project in Belagavi district, Karnataka.

DB Renews is Doddanavar Global Energy’s subsidiary.

The project consists of 10 wind turbine generators, each with a capacity of 2.7 MW.

SJS Enterprises will hold a 2.08% stake in DB Renews, thereby becoming a captive consumer of the renewable energy company’s wind power.

It has entered into a share purchase agreement, shareholders’ agreement, and energy purchase agreement, which involved subscribing to 28,800 equity shares of DB Renews at a face value and subscription price of ₹250 (~$2.75)/share, amounting to a total cash consideration of ₹7.2 million (~$79,184), which will be paid in one or more tranches.

The acquisition will allow SJS Enterprises to secure a dedicated renewable power supply for its operations, supporting its energy requirements through captive consumption.

The acquisition must be completed on or before April 30, 2026.

The company stated that the acquisition aligns with its objective of ensuring reliable access to renewable energy and securing long-term energy supply from wind-based generation assets.

SJS Enterprises is a manufacturer specializing in decorative aesthetic solutions for the automotive and consumer appliance industries. The company designs and produces components such as decals, appliques, badges, and in-mold labels, supplying original equipment manufacturer customers in India and international markets.

The company has undertaken several initiatives to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and increase its reliance on renewable energy. Apart from procuring power from the wind project, it is also sourcing solar power of around 3 MW from Surya Urja 1.

Additionally, 4.65 MW of renewable power supply from Amplus Energy has been operational at its SJS Decoplast and WPI facilities.

As part of its broader sustainability strategy, the company plans to introduce electric buses for employee transportation to further reduce its carbon footprint.

Overall, renewable sources now account for 83.30% of the company’s total energy consumption, surpassing its internal targets.

The commercial and industrial entities, large institutions, and residential complexes are increasingly turning to clean power solutions that offer greater cost efficiency than conventional grid tariffs.

However, beyond on-site installations, solar open access is rapidly emerging as a scalable alternative, enabling businesses to procure renewable energy at larger volumes while optimizing long-term cost savings.
