SEG Solar, a California-based solar module manufacturer, has announced plans to establish a 4 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas. Commercial operations at the new facility are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2026.

The facility will involve an investment of over $200 million.

SEG Solar said the expansion is part of its localization strategy. The company said domestically manufactured modules would support product quality, traceability, and delivery speed for customers and partners.

The new factory will add to SEG Solar’s existing 2 GW module manufacturing facility. The expansion is expected to increase the company’s total annual U.S. module production capacity to about 6 GW.

SEG Solar Vice President of Operations Timothy Johnson said, “The facility is designed with the flexibility to integrate next-generation technologies, including HJT, as the industry evolves.”

SEG Solar also referred to its previously announced plan to develop a 5 GW ingot-and-wafer manufacturing facility in Indonesia. The company said construction of that facility is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026.

Once the Indonesia facility is completed, SEG Solar said it expects to supply modules through an integrated supply chain covering ingots, wafers, and cells.

The company said the facilities form the foundation of its vertically integrated production platform. This integration is intended to improve supply chain transparency and traceability while meeting origin and compliance requirements in the U.S. solar market.

SEG said it has been validated as a non-prohibited foreign entity (PFE) for foreign entity of concern compliance purposes by multiple independent third parties and currently provides modules with non-PFE solar cells.

The company has shipped more than 7.5 GW of solar modules globally to date. The company currently has 6.5 GW of photovoltaic module manufacturing capacity and 5 GW of solar cell production capacity.

In 2023, SEG Solar announced the acquisition of a manufacturing facility in Texas capable of producing over 2 GW of solar modules.
