Sadbhav Futuretech has won a contract to install 90 MW of rooftop solar systems on the residences of Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana program, in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

The total estimated project cost is ₹5.09 billion (~$57.34 million).

The scope of work encompasses the design, engineering, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of residential solar systems across 45,000 households in the state, followed by the operation and maintenance of these systems for a period of five years.

The company has committed to completing the installations within six months.

The initiative aims to provide renewable energy to marginalized communities, aligning with the government’s broader goal of ensuring equitable access to clean energy.

Sadbhav Futuretech has installed more than 170 MW of solar systems.

In July this year, the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh invited bids to install 1,198.21 MW of rooftop solar projects for 599,105 SC & ST consumers under the PM Surya Ghar. The Andhra government has planned an initiative to promote rooftop solar installations, with a particular focus on supporting consumers from historically underserved or economically backward communities. The aim is to empower these consumers to become self-sufficient prosumers, generating their own electricity and reducing reliance on external supply.

Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals had earlier received an order for 77 MW of on-grid residential rooftop solar systems in Andhra Pradesh. The total order amounted to ₹4.45 billion (~$50.42 million) for 2 kW rooftop solar systems on 40,000 households.

Public sector banks have approved more than 579,000 loan applications under the PM Surya Ghar program as of September 2025, according to the Ministry of Finance. These loans amount to ₹109.07 billion (~$1.23 billion). The loans are processed through the JanSamarth Portal, which is integrated with the national portal of the Surya Ghar program.

India added over 1.6 GW of rooftop solar capacity in Q2 2025, according to Mercom India’s Rooftop Solar Market Report. The installations were up 33% quarter-over-quarter and 121.3% year-over-year. Of the installations during the quarter, over 74% were in the residential segment.
