The Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited’s (RUMSL) tender for 750 MW of grid-connected wind-solar hybrid projects in Madhya Pradesh has been oversubscribed by 530 MW, according to Mercom sources.

This is the first wind-solar hybrid tender issued by RUMSL. Earlier, RUMSL issued tenders for solar and floating solar projects.

RUMSL is a joint venture between the Solar Energy Corporation of India and Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam.

The bidders who made it past the technical bid include Tata Power Renewable Energy, Avaada Energy, Juniper Green Energy, ReNew Solar Power, Sprng Ojas Power, SJVN Green Energy, and TEQ Green Power IX (O2 Power).

The auction will be held on September 13, 2022. The Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company will procure power from the projects.

The guaranteed offtake of power from the projects has been the primary reason for the enthusiastic response to the tender. Also, RUMSL is known to award projects soon after auctions enabling faster project development activity. In 2021, RUMSL auctioned 1,500 MW of solar projects in three separate tranches between July and August, and the letter of award for the projects were issued by September. This is another reason that has not only attracted a massive response to the auction but also resulted in competitive tariffs.

The tender for the 750 MW wind-solar hybrid project was floated in April this year.

The projects are to be designed to deliver energy at Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company’s (MPPTCL) substation. The bidders will be responsible for procuring grid connectivity with MPPTCL. Bidders must also arrange for the evacuation and injection of surplus power into the grid at the interconnection points agreed upon with DISCOMs. The successful bidder has to bear the cost of the dedicated line, including the cost of construction, maintenance, and losses from the project up to the delivery point.

In May this year, Amp Energy, NHDC, and SJVN were declared winners in RUMSL’s auction for the 600 MW floating solar park at the Omkareshwar reservoir in Madhya Pradesh.

RUMSL has also issued a request for proposal to select consultants for transaction advisory services for a 950 MW ground-mounted solar photovoltaic park with battery energy storage solution in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh.
