ReNew Solar Power (ReNew), ACME Solar Holdings (ACME Solar) and Adani Renewable Energy Holdings Twelve (Adani Green Energy) have won Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) auction to develop 1,000 MW of interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power projects (Tranche XVIII).

Only 600 MW of the total capacity tendered has been awarded.

ReNew secured 250 MW at a tariff of ₹3.04 (~$0.0357)/kWh, while ACME won 300 MW at a tariff of ₹3.05 (~$0.0358)/kWh.

Adani secured the remaining 50 MW by quoting a tariff of ₹3.10 (~$0.0364)/kWh.

The tender was floated in September.

The tender had specified that each bidder, including parent companies or affiliates, can submit only one bid, with a minimum quoted capacity of 50 MW and a maximum of 500 MW. Projects may be located anywhere in India, with renewable energy components (including storage) either co-located or spread across multiple sites. These components can connect to the ISTS network at different substations.

SECI has allowed partial commissioning of the projects, with a minimum capacity of 50 MW required for the initial phase.

The project must use modules included in the latest Approved List of Models and Manufacturers issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

Recently, NTPC Renewable Energy, Sembcorp Green Infra, Solarcraft Power India 8 (Blupine Energy), Hero Solar Energy, and Reliance Power won the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) Tranche XVII auction to develop 2,000 MW of ISTS-connected solar power projects integrated with 1,000 MW/4,000 MWh energy storage systems.

Mercom previously reported that over 9.2 GW of solar power from SECI remains unsold due to a shortage of buyers.
