Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) has invited bids for a transmission line package between Barmer-II and South Kalamb (Part-V) associated with the transmission system for the evacuation of power from Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone Ph-IV (6 GW) and the Barmer complex (6 GW solar).

The scope of work includes a detailed survey, route alignment, profiling, tower structure spotting, optimization of tower locations, soil resistivity measurement, geotechnical investigation, fabrication, supply of all types of transmission line towers, installation of insulated conductor sleeves, testing, and commissioning of the transmission lines.

The last date to submit bids is April 16, 2026.

Bidders should have constructed one transmission line project of not less than 100 km of a 345 kV D/C or higher-voltage-class transmission line within the last seven years.

The bidder’s net worth for the last three financial years should be positive.

The minimum average annual turnover for the best three years of the bidder’s last five financial years should be at least ₹2.66 billion (~$28.59 million).

Bidders should have liquid assets, and the availability of credit facilities should be at least ₹442.9 million (~$4.76 million).

The project must be completed within 38 months of the contract award.

Last month, POWERGRID invited bids to select a consortium partner to set up an interstate transmission (ISTS) project to evacuate 5 GW of power from green hydrogen/green ammonia projects proposed in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam area.

In February this year, POWERGRID Narela Transmission, a wholly owned subsidiary of POWERGRID, commissioned the final ISTS to evacuate 8.1 GW of power from solar energy zones in Rajasthan. The commissioning marked the completion of the infrastructure awarded under national transmission planning for renewable integration, Phase II Part G.
