Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) has invited bids to commission a 2,100 kW off-grid solar project integrated with a 300 kW/1,200 kWh battery energy storage system (BESS). The project is located at the Pang HVDC station in Ladakh at an approximate altitude of 4,700 meters.

Bids must be submitted by June 27, 2025. Bids will be opened on the same day.

Bidders must submit a tender fee of ₹25,000 (~$293.50).

The project has an estimated cost of ₹137.6 million (~$1.62 million).

The scope of work entails the project’s complete design and engineering services. It also involves submitting technical documents and power generation estimation.

Selected bidders must procure and supply all components for the solar and BESS systems, including solar modules, DC/DC converters if needed, power conditioning units, transformers, battery systems, relay and protection systems, communication and data acquisition systems, fire protection equipment, weather monitoring stations, lightning arrestors, and earthing arrangements.

Construction activities include geotechnical investigations, topographical surveys, earthworks, fencing, internal road laying, foundation works for panels and equipment, AC distribution room installation, and water supply arrangement.

Bidders must have designed, supplied, erected, and commissioned at least one solar project with a minimum capacity of 1 MW. This project must have been operational for at least six months. The project must be at a single site and could include floating solar systems. If the bidder was part of a joint venture, only their specific contribution will be considered.

Bidders can also have completed engineering, procurement, and construction projects where the developer or owner supplied the modules.

They must have provided a minimum of 1 MW capacity in the last five years and must be classified as Class-I local suppliers under the MNRE guidelines. BESS suppliers or subcontractors must have completed projects with a minimum 600 kWh capacity in the last five years.

Bidders must have a positive net worth over the past three financial years. They must have a minimum average annual turnover of ₹170.5 million (~$2 million) for any three out of the past five financial years and liquid or credit access of at least ₹28.4 million (~$333,496).

Recently, POWERGRID invited bids to set up a BESS with a capacity of 5 MW/20 MWh, co-located with an 85 MW solar project at Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.
