Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) has invited bids to establish a transmission system to evacuate 6 GW of solar power from the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone Phase IV (Part 5), Barmer Complex, Barmer II.

The following transmission line is included in the scope of work: ±800 kV HVDC Bipole line (Hexa lapwing) between Barmer-II (HVDC) in Rajasthan and South Kalamb (HVDC) in Maharashtra, with a parallel dedicated metallic return (Part II).

The last date to submit bids is April 20, 2026. Bids will be opened on the same day.

Bidders should have completed the construction of one transmission line project of at least 100 km of 345kV D/C or higher-voltage-class transmission line within the last seven years.

If the bidder has executed the work under a contract awarded to a joint venture, the bidder’s experience will be considered limited to the scope of work executed as a partner under that contract.

The net worth of bidders in the last three financial years should be positive.

The minimum average annual turnover of bidders for the best three years of the last five years should be at least ₹2.17 billion (~$23.47 million).

They should have liquid assets and access to a credit facility of at least ₹362.4 million (~$3.92 million) to meet the project’s financial requirements.

Recently, POWEGRID floated two tenders for setting up ±800 kV HVDC transmission line packages to evacuate 6 GW of solar power from the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone Phase-IV.

Earlier, POWERGRID invited bids for a pre-bid tie-up to set up a ±800 kV HVDC transmission line package connecting the Barmer-II HVDC terminal in Rajasthan and the South Kalamb HVDC terminal in Maharashtra to evacuate 6 GW of solar power from the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone Phase-IV.
