Poland’s Ministry of Climate and Environment has signed eight additional agreements with energy clusters, allocating PLN264 million (~$73.42 million) to support local renewable energy and storage projects.
The agreements are part of Poland’s National Recovery Plan investment program.
The total energy and heat generation capacity of these projects is expected to reach approximately 40 MW, and the storage capacity is projected to exceed 47 MWh.
The funding will support 31.7 MW to 32.9 MW of energy and 6.76 MW of thermal power from renewable sources, 43.51 MWh to 47.5 MWh of storage capacity, 3,733 solar projects, 2,737 energy storage projects, 326 heat pumps, and one solar farm. It will also support pilot installations, including hydrogen storage projects.
The projects to be implemented will include renewable energy and storage projects, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and umbrella activities for residents.
The latest agreements are part of the recovery plan’s second phase. So far, 19 agreements, investing PLN628 million (~$174.65 million), have been signed.
The following energy clusters will receive investment under the National Recovery Plan:
- Krosno Energy Cluster – PLN7.7 million (~$2.14 million)
- Energy Cluster of Municipalities of Sokółka County – PLN29.1 million (~$8.09 million)
- Southern Energy Cluster of Nowy Sącz County – PLN41.7 million (~$11.59 million)
- Myszków County Energy Cluster – PLN50 million (~$13.9 million)
- Ropczyce-Dębica Cluster – PLN47.9 million (~$13.32 million)
- Dynowskie Foothills Energy Cluster – PLN49.3 million (~$13.71 million)
- Kujawski Energy Cluster ENERGIA KUJAW – PLN31.9 million (~$8.87 million)
- Turecki County Energy Cluster – PLN6.1 million (~$1.69 million)
In September this year, DRI, an Amsterdam-based renewable energy company and a subsidiary of the DTEK Group, announced the acquisition of rights to build a 112 MW/448 MWh battery energy storage system from Greenvolt Group, a renewable energy project developer. The project, located in Kozienice, in the east-central part of Poland, was acquired through Greenvolt Power, a developer of utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects.
In July, Poland’s Energy Regulatory Office awarded 16 TWh of renewable energy for PLN5 billion (~$1.37 billion) across two auctions held this month. Of the 129 winning bids, 126 were for solar installations and three for wind.
