Pivot Energy, a distributed solar and energy storage developer and independent power producer, has secured a $500 million corporate credit facility from Nuveen Energy Infrastructure Capital (Nuveen EIC).

The three-year bilateral facility will finance late-stage project development and equipment procurement while providing additional financing capacity for Pivot Energy’s growing portfolio of operating assets.

The company plans to use the financing to bring more solar and battery storage projects online, including dispatchable projects in areas facing grid constraints. These projects are intended to improve grid reliability and reduce electricity costs for ratepayers.

“This is the most transformational financing in Pivot’s history,” said Tom Hunt, CEO at Pivot Energy. “It reflects how far we’ve come, from an early-stage developer to an established IPP that owns and operates the assets we build. Nuveen EIC’s partnership gives us the capital to bring locally sited solar and storage projects online faster, delivering affordable, clean energy to the communities and customers we serve. We see this as the start of a long-term partnership and a key to unlock our bold growth trajectory.”

Pivot Energy expects to have more than 1 GW of solar capacity and over 700 MWh of energy storage assets in operation by the end of 2029.

Pivot Energy works with utilities and corporate customers and incorporates community investment, agrivoltaics, and local economic development initiatives into its operations. The company currently operates more than 200 MWdc of solar capacity.

In 2025, Pivot Energy closed three financing agreements totaling $225 million. The three financing agreements include a $170 million upsized existing construction warehouse facility, a $40 million equipment facility, and a $15 million corporate financing facility.

According to Mercom’s recently released 1H and Q2 2026 Solar Funding and M&A report, debt financing for the solar sector reached $13.2 billion across 44 deals, a 69% increase from 1H 2025, when $7.8 billion was raised in 41 deals.
