Onward Solar Power, Jevargi Solar (Rays Infra), Essar Renewables, Mahindra Susten, and Avaada Energy have won NHPC’s auction to develop 1.2 GW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power projects.

The tender was floated in May this year.

Onward Solar Power and Jevargi Solar were awarded a capacity of 50 MW and 200 MW, respectively, at a tariff of ₹2.56 (~$0.0304)/kWh. Essar Renewables was awarded 300 MW at the same tariff.

Mahindra Susten and Avaada Energy won a capacity of 300 MW and 350 MW, respectively, at the tariff of ₹2.57 (~$0.0306)/kWh.

The tender had specified that the total capacity should not exceed 600 MW without the greenshoe option but can reach up to 1,200 MW for bidders using the greenshoe option.

It had also mentioned that for projects in the northeastern states and special category areas, the minimum capacity a bidder can offer is 30 MW. Bidders have the flexibility to set up their solar power projects anywhere in India on land they identify, which they can either purchase or lease at their own discretion, cost, risk, and responsibility.

Bidders were required to specify the proposed locations of their projects when submitting their bids.

Only commercially established and operational technologies should be used to reduce technology risks and ensure the successful commissioning of the projects.

Recently, NHPC invited bids for the engineering, procurement, and construction package of a 200 MW grid-connected solar power project to be set up in Gujarat State Electricity Corporation (GSECL) ‘s renewable energy park at Khavda (GSECL Stage-3).
