The Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) has floated a tender for the supply of 100 electric rickshaws (e-rickshaws) and electric carts (e-carts).
The bid submission deadline for online bids is September 16, 2019, and the deadline for submitting the hard copy of the bids is September 19, 2019.
The tender has been floated for three types of electric vehicles:
- 25 Electric Rickshaws: a four-seater passenger vehicle
- 25 Electric Carts: this is accompanied by a container
- 50 Electric Carts: this is accompanied by AC (air conditioning) freezer units
The winning bidder will need to sign a comprehensive maintenance contract (CMC) with OREDA for a five-year duration from the commissioning date of each of the projects.
The scope of work includes the design, supply, and five-year maintenance and onsite delivery of electric rickshaws and electric carts for different applications within the delivery period. Vehicle registration, training beneficiaries for operations, and door-to-door maintenance will also be under the scope of work of the winning bidder.
The eligibility criteria for bidders require them to be a company or a partnership firm registered in the country. The minimum cumulative turnover of the bidder should be ₹5 million (~$69,478) over the last three years, particularly in the supply of electric vehicles. The bidder should have supplied a minimum of 30 electric vehicles for either the central government or state governments.
Earlier this year, Karnataka’s Shivamogga Smart City also came up with a tender to procure 100 electric rickshaws.
Uber, the world’s largest personal mobility company, recently signed a pact with SUN Mobility, a leading energy infrastructure, and services provider, to deploy electric rickshaws which would help provide an affordable and clean commuting option to its riders.
