Octillion Opens Third Battery Plant in India With 3 GWh Annual Capacity
The Gujarat facility can produce more than 48,000 EV battery systems annually

U.S.-based Octillion Power Systems, a supplier of battery systems for electric vehicles, has opened its third manufacturing facility in India in Halol, Gujarat, adding more than 3 GWh of annual battery production capacity.
The facility spans more than 13,000 square meters and can produce more than 48,000 battery systems annually at full capacity.
Octillion said it commissioned the facility in less than eight months.
With the new facility, Octillion expects its three plants in India to have combined annual production capacity exceeding 150,000 battery systems and approximately 9 GWh.
The company supplies batteries for passenger vehicles, commercial trucks and light commercial vehicles, and buses.
Paul Beach, Global President of Octillion Power Systems, said the company considers India an important growth market for electric mobility and is adding manufacturing capacity closer to its customers.
The company said the Halol plant incorporates its standardized production processes, thermal modeling, and integrated battery management systems. Octillion said the local manufacturing setup is intended to reduce lead times and improve its ability to respond to customer requirements.
Octillion attributed part of the growth in electric buses to deployments under the PM E-Bus Sewa and PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) programs.
The company highlighted that India continues to depend on imports of lithium, cobalt, and nickel used in battery production, necessitating the need for a domestic manufacturing supply chain.
Nikhil Parchure, Senior Vice President at Octillion Power Systems, said the company is focusing on local sourcing, quality control, and engineering capabilities as it expands production in India.
Octillion operates nine manufacturing facilities globally. According to the company, it has delivered more than 2.7 million batteries for electric vehicles and had 24 GWh of annual production capacity in 2024.
In July 2026, the Directorate General of Trade Remedies initiated an antidumping investigation into imports of electric tractors from China following allegations that the low-priced imports were causing material injury to the domestic industry.
In April 2026, the Ministry of Heavy Industries amended certain provisions of the PM E-DRIVE program, mandating an increase in domestic production of specific components for electric trucks (e-trucks) under the N2 and N3 categories.
