NTPC Renewable Energy (NTPC REL) has invited bids to set up 1,200 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power projects integrated with a 600 MW/2,400 MWh (600 MW x 4 hours) energy storage system (ESS).
Bids must be submitted by March 13, 2025. Bids will be opened on the same day.
Bidders must submit an earnest money deposit (EMD) of ₹1.63 million (~$19,845.55)/MW and a bid document fee of ₹22,500 (~$272.73).
The project will be developed on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis and can be set up anywhere in India.
The minimum bid capacity is 50 MW, which can be scaled in multiples of 10 MW. A single bidder can be awarded a maximum capacity of 600 MW with a corresponding 300 MW/1200 MWh ESS.
The tender mandates that at least 0.5 MW/2 MWh of energy storage capacity must be installed for every 1 MW of solar capacity.
Micro and Small Enterprises are exempt from submitting EMD and document costs.
Recently, NTPC Green Energy issued a tender to develop a green hydrogen generation unit/electrolyzer for a 1 MW green hydrogen mobility project in Kandla, Gujarat.
Earlier this year, NTPC invited bids for a proof-of-concept battery energy storage system pilot project to provide power backup for two units with a cumulative capacity of 420 MW at NTPC Dadri thermal power station in Uttar Pradesh.
In the same year, NTPC had invited bids for procuring 219,000 tons of non-torrefied biomass pellets at its coal-fired thermal power plant in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh.
In 2024, NTPC Renewable Energy invited bids to supply and install wind turbine generators for a 960 MW ISTS-connected wind energy project in Karnataka (Tranche III).
