NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) has invited bids for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of 3,200 MWh of battery storage systems at NTPC Renewable Energy’s (NTPC REL) solar project in Fatehgarh, Rajasthan.
The last date to submit bids is June 25, 2026. Bids will be opened on the same day.
The battery storage project has been divided into three blocks: 300 MW/1,200 MWh (Block 1), 300 MW/1,200 MWh (Block 2), and 200 MW/800 MWh (Block 3).
The battery storage systems will be connected to the solar projects at the 33 kV level.
The scope of work entails design, engineering, supply, packing, forwarding, transportation, unloading, storage, installation, and commissioning of grid-connected battery storage projects.
Successful bidders will also be responsible for the project’s comprehensive operation and maintenance, including the associated warranty of the battery storage systems for 15 years
The battery systems must be designed for 25 years and must ensure 10,000 cycles of operation.
Successful bidders must guarantee a minimum dispatchable capacity of 92% at the point of interconnection for 15 years, and 95% for the first year. The systems must have a dispatchable capacity of at least 92% during handover.
The battery storage capacity offered by successful bidders should be sufficient to meet the deliverable capacity at the point of interconnection, including reactive power compensation.
Each battery storage system must be designed for a minimum nameplate capacity of 110%.
The battery storage systems must ensure a minimum round-trip efficiency of at least 80% and maintain an annual availability of 98%.
Bidders must ensure that the auxiliary power required for the battery storage project and the system is sized to account for auxiliary consumption during non-solar hours.
They must pay the deviation settlement mechanism charges applicable to the metering and scheduling of battery storage projects during the contract period.
Recently, NGEL invited bids to develop 3,300 MWh of battery energy storage systems at the NTPC REL solar project in Khavda, Gujarat.
This February, NTPC REL invited bids for an EPC package for a 100 MWh vanadium redox flow battery energy storage system at Khavda Solar Park in Gujarat.
