NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) has declared the commercial operation of 105 MW of solar capacity at the 1,200 MW Khavda II project in Gujarat.

The capacity represents the eighth and final part of the Khavda II solar project.

The commercial operation of the project began on May 28, 2026.

NTPC Green’s commercial capacity stands at 10,516.40 MW while its total installed capacity increases to 10,621.40 MW upon the addition of the 105-MW project.

NTPC Group’s total installed capacity now stands at 90,773 MW, while its commercial capacity is 88,893 MW. The company currently has 38 commissioned projects and 41 more under execution.

Recently, NGEL commissioned 150 MW capacity at its 300 MW solar project in Rajasthan, owned by Project Sixteen Renewable Power, a subsidiary of its joint venture, ONGC NTPC Green.

NTPC Green Energy was among the top utility-scale solar project developers in 2025, according to Mercom’s India Solar Market Leaderboard 2026. The company commissioned more than 2 GW of solar capacity, primarily through the acquisition of near-commissioning and recently commissioned projects.

In March this year, NTPC Renewable Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of NGEL, commissioned the third phase of the 1.2 GW Khavda-II solar project in Gujarat.

NREL is developing two large-scale solar parks. A 4.75 GW solar park is being developed at Khavda, and a 630 MW solar park at Barethi, Madhya Pradesh. These projects are designed to contribute significantly to the company’s renewable energy portfolio.

NTPC Green Energy is targeting 60 GW of renewable capacity by the financial year 2032 and is actively bidding for projects and developing Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Parks.

In February, NTPC Renewable Energy commissioned 165 MW capacity at the 1,200 MW Khavda-II Solar Project in Gujarat.

In January this year, NGEL commissioned 300 MW of the total 500 MW capacity at the Bhadla solar project in Phalodi, Rajasthan.
