The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) will be developing 20 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at different locations. It has already successfully set up two EV charging stations at its offices in Noida and Delhi.

“We want to expand this business and hope to add at least 20 more locations. We are also in talks with different government [entities] for the same,” NTPC Chairman and Managing Director Gurdeep Singh said in a media briefing.

Mr. Singh added, “Initially, NTPC will set up EV charging stations in the New Delhi Municipal Corporation area and then spread its business across the country.”

Another NTPC official told Mercom, “Electric vehicles will be the future of transportation and NTPC is moving fast to gain a foothold in the sector during its initial stages of development. This will be a huge market for the company in the next three to four years as more and more EVs are introduced to curb emissions.”
