Northern Railways Floats Tender for 2 MW Solar Projects in Punjab

Northern Railways has issued a tender to set up 2,150 kW of grid-connected solar projects with net metering at station/service buildings of its Firozpur division in Punjab.
The tender has an advertised value of ₹110.53 million (~$1.2 million).
Bids must be submitted by April 20, 2026.
Bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹2.21 million (~$23,691)
The scope of work entails setting up the solar projects, as well as supplying, installing, testing, and commissioning 15 net meters of various capacities, including meter sets and meter boxes. It also involves paying the registration, feasibility, and testing fees.
Selected bidders must provide low and high-tension current transformers at the project sites.
The projects must be completed within six months.
Bidders must have a valid electrical contractor license. Original equipment manufacturers must submit valid electrical contractor licenses in the name of their executing agencies.
Bidders must have designed, installed, tested, and commissioned solar or solar-hybrid projects of at least 50 kW in the last seven years.
They must have completed either three such works, each costing at least 30% of the advertised value, two such works, each costing at least 40% of the advertised value, or one such work costing at least 60% of the advertised value.
Bidders must have a minimum average annual turnover of at least ₹110.5 million (~$1.2 million).
This January, the Northern Railways, Ambala Division, invited bids to set up 1,000 kW of on-grid solar projects across multiple locations in Haryana.
Last July, the Ministry of Railways issued a request for qualification to empanel agencies to implement 1 MW rooftop solar projects for Bihar’s Samastipur Division under the East Central Railways.
In February 2025, the Northern Railway, Moradabad division, issued two tenders to set up solar projects with a combined capacity of 2.791 MW at residential and service buildings and level crossing gates.
