Northern Railway Floats O&M Tender for 1 MW Solar Projects

Northern Railway has issued a tender for the annual comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) of 1 MW solar projects installed at various locations at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station, platform shelters, and service buildings in and around Katra, Jammu and Kashmir.
Bids must be submitted by April 27, 2026.
The estimated cost of the project is ₹1.69 million (~$18,235).
Bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹33,800 (~$365).
The scope of work also covers the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of critical equipment, such as inverters and inverter cards, as well as supervisory control and data acquisition-related services.
Bidders must hold a valid electrical contractor license issued by a State or Central government authority.
The completion period aligns with the 24-month O&M duration, indicating that all contractual obligations, including equipment installation and maintenance services, must be fulfilled within this timeframe.
Recently, the Northern Railway issued a tender to set up 2,150 kW of grid-connected solar projects with net metering at station/service buildings of its Firozpur division in Punjab.
This January, the Northern Railway, Ambala Division, invited bids to set up 1,000 kW of on-grid solar projects across multiple locations in Haryana.
In the same month, the Ministry of Railways invited bids to set up 5 MW grid-connected flexible-module rooftop solar systems at the old buildings at Noapara metro railway station and other locations of Kolkata Metro Railways.
Last October, the Ministry invited bids to set up 1.235 MW of rooftop solar projects at the A, B, and suburban railway stations in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntakal division.
In July 2025, the Ministry issued a request for qualification to empanel agencies to implement 1 MW rooftop solar projects for Bihar’s Samastipur Division under the East Central Railway.
Last February, the Northern Railway, Moradabad division, issued two tenders to set up solar projects with a combined capacity of 2.791 MW at residential and service buildings and level crossing gates.
