Northeast Frontier Railway has floated two tenders for setting up 5 MW of ground-mounted solar projects in Alipurduar, West Bengal, under a public-private partnership.

The projects will be set up at the Kanchan View colony (3 MW), Alipurduar junction, and near the junction’s powerhouse (2 MW).

The expected costs for the 3 MW and 2 MW projects are ₹423.76 million (~$4.78 million) and ₹282.51 million (~$3.18 million), respectively.

Bids must be submitted by November 5, 2025.

Bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹3.2 million (~$36,133.24) for the 3 MW project and ₹2.13 million (~$24,088.83) for the 2 MW project. They must submit a document fee of ₹34,810 (~$392.57) for both projects.

Selected bidders must submit a performance guarantee of 5% of the contract value.

The scope of work entails the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the solar projects. It also involves providing operation and maintenance services for 25 years.

The projects must consist of at least 550 MW of bi-facial monocrystalline or N-type TOPCon solar modules that have been certified under the International Electrotechnical Commission.

The projects must be completed within 240 days.

Bidders must have installed an aggregate of 200 kW of rooftop solar rooftop/ground-mounted systems as developers or engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors.

Alternatively, they must have installed grid-connected solar systems of 1,000 kW capacity in the residential, social, commercial, government, or other sectors as developers or EPC contractors.

Bidders must have an annual average turnover of ₹15 million (~$169,163.1) over the last three financial years. They must also have a positive net worth during the same period.

In June this year, Servotech secured Northeast Frontier Railway’s auction to develop 7.8 MW rooftop solar power projects in Assam’s Rangiya division. The project’s estimated contract value is ₹336 million (~$3.9 million).

In December 2024, the Tinsukia Division of Northeast Frontier Railway floated a tender to provide 1.41 MW rooftop solar power systems at the station, service buildings, residential buildings, and gates under its jurisdiction.
