NHPC Tenders 30 MW Solar Project in Uttar Pradesh

The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) tendered a 30 MW solar PV project to be developed in the Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh. This is an engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contract and the project will be developed on turnkey basis. The bid submission deadline is March 1, 2017. The project is expected to be complete within 12 months from the notification of award.

Land for the project will be made available by NHPC which has also asked only single bidders to participate in the bid, no joint ventures are allowed.

The scope of work includes design, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, quality assurance, testing, insurance, supply, packing and forwarding, transportation, installation, commissioning, performance testing, acceptance testing, training, and comprehensive operation and maintenance of the project for a 10-year period from the date of successfully completing a trial run.

According to Mercom’s India Solar Project Tracker, NHPC signed a memorandum of understanding in 2015 with the Solar Energy Corporation of India to set up 250 MW of solar projects in the country. Including this announcement, the NHPC has so far tendered 130 MW of solar projects including an 50 MW solar project in Uttar Pradesh and another 50 MW project in Tamil Nadu.

NHPC has made a commitment to the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy to set up a minimum of 430 MW of renewable energy projects in the next five years as part of the Green Energy Commitment.
