NHPC has issued a request for selection to set up 1,200 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar projects with a 600 MW/ 2,400 MWh energy storage system (ESS) anywhere in India.
The tender has a greenshoe option of up to 1,200 MW.
Bids must be submitted by April 24, 2025. Bids will open on April 29.
Bidders must submit a bid security of ₹942,000 (~$10,974) per the rated cumulative installed capacity of solar components.
They must also furnish ₹1.3 million (~$15,145.4) per rated cumulative installed capacity of the ESS component as part of the bid security.
Bidders are required to submit a processing fee, excluding 18% GST, as follows:
- For 50 MW, bidders must furnish ₹300,000 (~$3,495)
- For above 50 MW and up to 100 MW, ₹500,000 (~$5,825)
- For above 100 MW and up to 250 MW, ₹1 million (~$11,650)
- For above 250 and up to 500 MW, ₹2 million (~$23,303)
- Above 500 MW, ₹3 million (~$34,954)
NHPC will enter into a power purchase agreement with the selected bidders for 25 years.
Bidders must use commercially established and operational technologies to minimize risk and achieve timely project commissioning. They must only use cells and modules from the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers.
Bidders can offer projects at multiple locations, provided that each project has a minimum capacity of 50 MW, with a minimum ESS component of 25 MW/100 MWh. The cumulative capacity offered should not exceed 600 MW (with a minimum ESS component of 300 MW/1,200 MWh) without a greenshoe option.
The net worth of the bidders must exceed the bid security deposited. They must have an annual turnover of ₹4.7 million (~$54,764) per the rated cumulative installed capacity of solar components plus ₹6.8 million (~$79,232) per the rated cumulative installed capacity of the ESS components.
Developers who have already commissioned solar projects or are in the process of installing such projects and have untied capacity can place bids. Similarly, developers who have already set up capacity or have spare untied capacity can also participate in the tender.
In January, NHPC invited bids for setting up a cumulative 24.22 MW rooftop solar projects on 245 government buildings in 25 states/union territories under the renewable energy service company model.
