Mumbai-based electric vehicle (EV) solutions company Neuron Energy has commissioned a ₹1 billion (~$10.76 million) battery energy storage system manufacturing facility with an annual capacity of 5 GWh in Talegaon, Maharashtra, marking its entry into the utility-scale energy storage segment.

Spread across seven acres, the fully automated facility is designed to produce containerized battery storage units, enabling efficient storage of surplus renewable energy and dispatch during peak demand periods.

Founded in 2018, the company specializes in lithium-ion batteries and EV chargers. The company is accelerating the transition to clean energy through battery technologies and advanced energy storage solutions.

Its lithium-ion batteries, power systems, and smart energy innovations are used in electric two- and three-wheelers and light commercial vehicles.

The company has advanced manufacturing facilities in Kapashera, Noida, and Pune, where lithium-ion batteries for EVs are manufactured. While its Pune facility focuses on enhancing battery life, reducing charging time, and developing efficient cooling packs, the Delhi facility produces batteries, specifically for two-wheelers.

Neuron Energy aims to expand its battery manufacturing capacity to 3 GWh. It is also planning to establish a fully automated facility for electric four-wheelers and buses at Chakan, Pune.

Neuron Energy said it is confident of achieving sales of over ₹9 billion (~$100.7 million) and robust profitability over the next few years.

Last November, Neuron Energy raised ₹310 million (~$3.47 million) in a pre-series B round to expand its battery manufacturing capacity. The funding was led by Equanimity Ventures, Rajiv Dadlani Group, Thackersey Family Office, and Chona Family Office, with participation from several reputable family offices and high-net-worth individual investors.

In 2024, the company raised ₹200 million (~$2.4 million) in Series A funding from investors, including the Chona Family and the Capri Global Family Office.

Recently, the government notified the Central Electricity Authority (Measures relating to Safety and Electric Supply) Amendment Regulations, 2026, which introduce a comprehensive safety framework for battery energy storage systems. The Central Electricity Authority had issued the draft guidelines in June 2025. The amended regulations will come into force on April 1, 2027.
