Midwest Energy, the technology and clean energy arm of Hyderabad-based Midwest Business House, has commenced commercial production at its 1.2 GWh battery energy storage manufacturing facility in Bengaluru.

The battery energy storage manufacturing facility began commercial production on July 20, 2026.

The facility has integrated cell-to-container manufacturing capabilities for producing battery modules, battery trays, battery racks, and fully integrated containerized battery energy storage systems.

Its products will serve commercial, industrial, renewable energy, and utility-scale applications.

The facility will manufacture energy storage systems ranging from 3 kWh to 6 MWh, with voltage ratings from 48 V to 1,500 V

The company said the plant includes quality assurance, product traceability, and end-of-line testing systems. It claimed that the products manufactured at the facility are aligned with UL 1973, UL 9540, and UL 9540A standards.

The company also plans to offer customized storage systems for different customer requirements.

Midwest Energy said the commencement of production would expand its clean energy business and strengthen its ability to supply domestic and international markets.

The company is also developing manufacturing capabilities for rare-earth permanent magnets and other critical materials used in electric mobility, renewable energy, grid infrastructure, and other industries.

It has established a rare earth permanent magnet manufacturing unit in Hyderabad with an annual capacity of 500 metric tons. It plans to expand the unit’s capacity to 5,000 metric tons per year.

Midwest Business House was established in 1981 and operates across mineral exploration, mining, mineral processing, engineering, advanced materials, and clean energy.

According to Mercom India Research’s Q1 2026 India’s Energy Storage Landscape Report, India added 4.6 GWh of battery energy storage capacity in the first quarter (Q1) of 2026, a 941% increase from 442.7 MWh added in Q4 2025.

According to data from the Mercom India Renewable Energy Project Tracker, India’s energy storage pipeline crossed 110 GWh across the under-development and pre-construction stages.
