Energy storage systems have emerged as a critical pillar of India’s clean energy transition strategy due to their potential to enhance grid reliability, flexibility, and energy security.
As solar and wind installations expand rapidly across the country, energy storage is increasingly seen as a key advantage that could pave the way for the seamless integration of clean energy generation, overcoming intermittency and maintaining a stable power ecosystem.
Acknowledging the growing importance of storage technologies, the Mercom India Renewables Summit 2026 will host a dedicated Storage Plenary Block, titled ‘Building a Bankable Energy Storage Ecosystem,’ on the second day of the conference.
The session, scheduled for 11:00 AM on July 2, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency, New Delhi, will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, and energy storage experts to examine the regulatory frameworks, market mechanisms, and manufacturing strategies needed to support large-scale deployment of energy storage solutions across both grid-connected and distributed energy applications.
The panel discussion will feature Sunil Sharma, Director (NRE, RCM) at the Ministry of Power; Inder Bhambra, COO, BESS, and Chief Business Officer, India Region, at Envision Energy India; Ayush Misra, CEO & Co-Founder at AmpereHour Solar Technology; and Wendy Prabhu, President, Mercom India, and Co-Founder, Mercom Capital Group.
The topics to be addressed during the session include supply chain resilience, domestic battery manufacturing capacity, financing models, cost competitiveness, and the regulatory clarity required to attract long-term investments into the sector. The discussion will focus on how India can create a resilient and financially viable storage ecosystem to support the nation’s clean energy ambitions.
The plenary session aims to provide actionable insights into creating an ecosystem that enables storage projects to secure financing, achieve cost efficiency, and grow at scale.
The 2026 Summit will also feature the Mercom India Awards, an event dedicated to celebrating outstanding achievements and technological innovations shaping India’s clean energy markets. The Mercom India Renewable Summit Expo will bring together renewable energy companies showcasing cutting-edge solutions and services, offering participants opportunities to connect with industry leaders, explore new business prospects, and strengthen brand visibility.
