Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology (MAHAPREIT) has issued a request for selection to develop a 100 MW grid-connected floating solar project at Tansa Dam and/or Modak Sagar Dam in Maharashtra.
Bids must be submitted by February 12, 2026. Bids will be opened on February 16.
Bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹54.6 million (~$600,700) and a tender fee of ₹29,500 (~$325). The successful bidder must submit a performance bank guarantee of ₹546 million (~$6.01 million).
The declared minimum capacity utilization factor for the project is 25%, with an allowable variation of ±5 percent. The ceiling tariff for power supply is ₹4.18 (~$0.046)/kWh.
The utility-scale floating solar project will supply electricity for 25 years to MAHAPREIT or the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, which owns and operates both the Tansa and Modak Sagar dams.
The scope of work includes engineering, financing, construction, ownership, operation, and maintenance (O&M) of the floating solar project, as well as the development of evacuation infrastructure up to the interconnection point.
Bidders must have commissioned either a cumulative 25 MW of floating solar projects in the last seven financial years, including at least one 10 MW project at a single site, or at least one 15 MW floating solar project at a single water body during the same period. All referenced projects must have been in operation for at least 12 months prior to bid submission.
Additionally, bidders must have at least five years of solar module manufacturing experience at their own facility, have commissioned 200 MW of grid-connected solar projects in India over the past five years (including one 50 MW project operational for at least 12 months), and possess a minimum of 100 MW of O&M experience over two years, including 10 MW of floating solar O&M for at least 12 months.
Bidders must have a minimum net worth of ₹50 million (~$550,000)/MW as of FY 2023–24 or FY 2024–25.
The projects must be completed within 18 months of the execution of the power purchase agreement or the site handover. Part commissioning is permitted, with an initial minimum capacity of 25 MW, followed by commissioning in 10 MW increments.
Only components from the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers must be used.
Liquidated damages will apply to delays beyond the scheduled commercial operation date. Performance-related liquidated damages include encashment of performance security in defined slabs for delays of up to 22 months, with termination provisions applicable beyond that period.
In June 2025, MAHAPREIT issued a request for proposal to implement 500 MW of rooftop solar projects at multiple locations in Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh. The tender has a 50% greenshoe option.
