MAHAGENCO REL Invites Bids to Procure 700 Acres of Land for 175 MW Solar Projects

MAHAGENCO Renewable Energy (MAHAGENCO REL) has invited bids to select an agency to lease 700 acres of land and obtain grid connectivity and line right-of-way (RoW) clearance for the development of 175 MW (25 MW × 7) of solar power projects in Maharashtra.
The scope of work includes leasing of land for 28 years and further extendable for 2 years, land development services, identifying existing 132/33kV OR 220/33 kV substation having sufficient power evacuation margins and 99% grid availability, and RoW clearance and executing pole line agreement for 33 kV line from land parcel to substation.
The last day to submit bids online is May 11, 2026. Bids will be opened on May 15.
Bidders must pay a non-refundable tender processing fee of ₹100,000 (~$1,080) for each 100 acres land parcel along with the bid.
Bidders should have experience in civil land development or land acquisition, obtaining grid connectivity approval from the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company (MSETCL), or renewable energy project management.
The minimum average annual turnover of bidders in the last three financial years should be ₹100,000 (~$1,080)/acre.
The net worth of bidders for the last financial year should be positive and at least ₹650,000 (~$7,024.36)/acre.
Bidders should have a minimum working capital of ₹100,000 (~$1,080)/acre as per the last audited financial statement. Bidders with inadequate working capital can supplement it with a letter from its bank confirming a net worth of not less than ₹8 billion (~$86.45 million) and the availability of a line of credit of at least ₹100,000 (~$1,080)/acre.
Bidders must arrange 100 acres of land in Maharashtra to obtain it on a 30-year lease.
The length of the power evacuation line route between the nearest point of the offered land parcel and the proposed MSETCL substation should be within 5 km.
The minimum global horizontal irradiation for the proposed land parcel should be at least 1,880 kWh/m2.
Bidders must conduct soil testing: 1 bore to a depth of 2.5 meters for every 10 hectares and submit the soil test reports with the bid. These will be evaluated against the technical criteria for site selection.
Recently, MAHAGENCO NTPC Green Energy issued an expression of interest to procure 10,000 acres of land for the development of solar and other renewable energy projects across Maharashtra.
Earlier, MAHAGENCO invited bids for the engineering, procurement, and construction of 300 MW solar projects across Maharashtra (Phase-II).
