China-based solar solutions company LONGi has launched a solar module manufacturing facility in Delta Mas, Indonesia, located in the West Java region. This facility will be established in collaboration with Pertamina, Indonesia’s state-owned energy company, through its subsidiary, Pertamina New and Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE).
The facility is expected to commence manufacturing preparations this month with an annual production capacity of 1.6 GW. It will utilize LONGi’s Hybrid Passivated Back Contact 2.0 technology to produce high-efficiency modules.
LONGi said it aims to combine its position in the global solar market with Pertamina NRE’s local market understanding to increase the domestic component levels in its products. This collaboration also aims to help meet the growing demand for high-quality solar modules in Indonesia and other Southeast Asian markets.
Dennis She, Vice President of LONGi Group, stated that the company aims to reduce costs, foster innovation, and create high-value green jobs by localizing production.
Indonesia aims to achieve 17.1 GW of new solar installations over the next ten years, as outlined in its 2025–2034 Electricity Supply Plan (RUPTL). The plan will further improve the local photovoltaic industry chain while meeting the regional market demand and play an active role in upgrading the level of localized manufacturing in Indonesia.
According to Eniya Listiani, Director General in Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, this strategic project will significantly support the energy transition process in Indonesia. He hopes that this project can support the additional generating capacity target of 69.5 GW. Of this target, 61% or 42.6 GW would come from renewable energy projects.
LONGi Green Energy Technology was one of the top solar module suppliers to India in 2024, according to Mercom’s recently released India Solar Market Leaderboard 2025. It accounted for 8.6% of the module shipments for the year.
Pertamina NRE is involved in developing new and renewable energy. It also covers the exploration and operation of geothermal work areas, as well as geothermal and gas power projects.
