Juniper Green and Tata Power Renewable Win 225 MW Wind-Solar Hybrid Auction
The tender was floated in June this year

Juniper Green Energy and Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) have won Tata Power’s auction to develop and procure power from 225 MW of grid-connected intrastate and interstate wind-solar hybrid power projects with a greenshoe option of 225 MW on a long-term basis.
Juniper Green Energy won 75 MW by quoting ₹3.27 (~$0.039)/kWh, and TPREL, a subsidiary of Tata Power, won 150 MW out of the quoted capacity of 225 MW at ₹3.28 (~$0.039)/kWh under the bucket filling method.
According to Mercom sources, the remaining 225 MW under the greenshoe option will be allocated soon.
The tender was floated in June this year.
The tender specified the project size for an intrastate hybrid power project to be 25 MW, with at least 10 MW at one site. The minimum project size for interstate projects must be 50 MW at one site, which should be interconnected to a single delivery point.
Only type-certified wind turbine models listed in the Revised List of Models and Manufacturers (RLMM) issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) will be allowed for deployment under this tender.
Additionally, Tata Power has mandated the use of solar modules listed in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) issued by MNRE for the projects.
The transmission of power up to the delivery point, including absorbing transmission losses and energy accounting infrastructure, will be the responsibility of the hybrid power developer at its own cost.
The hybrid power project developer must maintain generation to achieve an annual capacity utilization factor (CUF) of not less than 90% of the declared value and not more than 120% of the declared CUF value during the PPA duration of 25 years.
Earlier this year, TPREL signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tata Power Delhi Distribution, a joint venture between Tata Power and the government of Delhi, for supplying 510 MW of wind-solar hybrid power. The PPA comprised 170 MW of solar and 340 MW of wind power.
