Specialty chemical manufacturing company Jubilant Ingrevia will procure ~54 million units (MU) of power annually for its manufacturing facility in Gujarat from O2 Power’s wind-solar hybrid power project.
The power for its manufacturing facility in the special economic zone in Bharuch will be procured on a third-party open access model from an interstate transmission connected, co-located, wind-solar hybrid project in Maharashtra.
The company has signed the power purchase agreement through its wholly owned subsidiary Jubilant Infrastructure. The agreement will enable the Bharuch plant to meet 50% of its energy needs from renewables.
After completing the power purchase, 35% of Jubilant’s manufacturing facilities’ power requirements will be met through renewables.
The company had targeted sourcing 7% renewable energy in the financial year (FY) 2024.However, the company met 5.49% of power needs through renewables in the same year.
Last year, the company signed agreements with O2 Power to procure renewable energy for its manufacturing facilities in Savli, Gujarat, and Gajraula, Uttar Pradesh. The projects are expected to be commissioned in April 2025.
In January 2025, the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission approved the power purchase agreement between Jubilant Infrastructure and O2 Renewable Energy III for procuring 9 MW of wind-solar hybrid power.
In FY2024, the company consumed 5.60 million M3 of biogas, 0.10 peta joules of energy from biogas, and 0.08 peta joules of solar energy. The company’s energy conservation efforts for its Gajraula & Bharuch plants resulted in ₹255.7 million (~$2.58 million) in savings.
The company plans to increase its share of power from renewable sources by 2.5 times by 2025.
In 2021, the company acquired a 26% stake in AMP Energy C&I and AMP Energy Green Fifteen to procure power from a 15.5 MW solar power project.
In 2024, it invested ₹102.50 million (~$1.17 million) in O2 Renewable Energy XVIII Private Limited engaged in electricity generation through solar and wind energy.
