Jinko Solar, Waaree Energies, LONGi Green Energy TechnologyTrina Solar, and Adani Solar were the top solar module suppliers in 2024, according to Mercom’s recently released India Solar Market Leaderboard 2025.

The demand for solar modules in India has been growing, driven by the unprecedented solar project installations – 25.2 GW in 2024 and India’s goal to install 280 GW of solar by 2030.

India added 25.3 GW of solar module capacity, 11.6 GW of cell capacity, and 2 GW of integrated wafer and ingot capacity in 2024, according to Mercom’s “State of Solar PV Manufacturing in India 2025.”

Jinko Solar was the leading supplier in 2024, accounting for 15.7% of the modules shipped to India. Waaree Energies and LONGi Green Energy Technology ranked second and third, accounting for 10.7% and 8.6% of the module shipments, respectively. Trina Solar and Adani Solar rounded off the top five, accounting for 4.4% and 4.3% of the annual module shipments, respectively.

Chinese module manufacturers led the market, as developers were allowed to import modules until Q2 2024. Imports continued beyond Q2 for captive open access projects, behind-the-meter installations, and legacy projects that were exempt from the ALMM mandate.

The top five suppliers accounted for 43.7% of the module capacities shipped to domestic solar projects.

The solar modules imported to India were mainly from China. The top suppliers exporting to India included Jinko Solar, LONGi Green Energy Technology, and Trina Solar.

The government’s mandate to use modules listed under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) has also significantly boosted the market share of Indian manufacturers.

The leading Indian module suppliers in 2024 were Waaree Energies, Adani Solar, ReNew, Premier Energies, Saatvik Green Energy, and Rayzon Solar. Six Indian companies made it to the top ten list.

In 2024, mono PERC modules accounted for 85.3% of the supplies. TOPCon modules accounted for nearly 13.7%, and polycrystalline modules made up 0.9% of the supply.
