The Odisha government has given the green light to a number of green energy projects with a promised investment of roughly ₹557 billion (~$6.7 billion).

Among the proposals approved by the Odisha government is an electrolyzer manufacturing plant in Khordha to be set up by Waaree Clean Energy Solutions at a cost of ₹4.35 billion (~$52.4 million).

Waaree will also develop a 1.20 MMTPA green ammonia project in Jagatsinghpur with an investment of ₹124.8 billion (~$1.5 billion).

In the solar energy space, an investment proposal by Hindalco Industries for a solar power project in Koratpur at a cost of ₹2 billion (~$24.1 million) was approved.

The state government also gave the go-ahead for Tata Steel’s 22 MW solar project in Sundergarh, with an investment of ₹1.26 billion (~$15.1 million).

ACME Greentech Urja’s proposal to establish an integrated manufacturing unit focused on using silica for solar photovoltaics with an investment of ₹360 billion (~$ $4.3 billion) was cleared. The facility, to be located in Khurda, has set a target of manufacturing 10 GW of solar panels.

The Odisha government also approved EG Solwin Hybrid’s proposal to set up a green ammonia production unit with a capacity of 0.30 MT at Tata Special Economic Zone, Gopalpur, Ganjam, with an investment of ₹63.3 billion (~$763.8 million).

Among the investment proposals approved by the government was Adani Total Energies Biomass’ project to produce compressed biogas at a cost of ₹1.36 billion (~$16.4 million). The project will come up in Sambalpur.

The approvals to these proposals were given recently by the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority, covering a spectrum of 22 new projects across various sectors, including green energy equipment, chemical, textiles and apparel, steel, iron & ferroalloys, aluminum downstream, food processing, power & renewable energy, IT infrastructure, and infrastructure and logistics.

The Odisha government recently approved solar cell and module manufacturer Jupiter International’s proposal to set up a 1.2 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in the state.

In February, Jindal Steel & Power commissioned a 15 MW_dc rooftop solar project at its steel manufacturing plant in Angul in the state.
