The Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) has traded a monthly electricity volume of 11.41 billion units (BU) in November 2025, a 17.7% year-over-year (YoY) increase.
IEX said the country’s energy consumption during the month reached 123.4 BU, declining nearly 1% from the same month in 2024.
Increased hydropower, wind, and solar generation led to higher liquidity on the exchange, driving down the day-ahead market (DAM) and real-time market (RTM) prices.
The DAM market-clearing prices stood at ₹3.07 (~$0.034)/kWh during the month, a 6.9% YoY decrease. The RTM price was ₹3.14 (~$0.035)/kWh, reducing 9.2% from November 2024.
IEX said these prices presented an opportunity for distribution companies and commercial and industrial consumers to meet their demand at competitive prices and replace their costlier power by purchasing through exchanges.
Electricity Market
DAM achieved a volume of over 5.66 BU in November 2025, increasing 0.3% YoY from 5.65 BU.
RTM volume rose to more than 4.23 BU, rising 40.2% from 3.02 BU in November 2024.
The day-ahead contingency and term-ahead market (TAM), comprising HP-TAM, contingency, daily and weekly, and monthly contracts of up to three months, traded 693 MU, a 243.1% growth from 202 MU in the same month last year.
Green Market
The IEX Green Market, consisting of the green day-ahead market (G-DAM) and the green term-ahead market segments, reached 815 MU during the month, a 0.3% YoY decline. The weighted average price in G-DAM was ₹3.29 ($0.036)/kWh.
Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) Market
A total of 474,000 RECs were traded in the trading session held on November 25 and 26, at a clearing price of ₹370 (~$4.10) and ₹364 (~$4.04), respectively.
The REC traded volume in November 2025 reduced 13.1% YoY.
The next REC trading sessions at IEX will be held on December 10 and 31.
IEX traded 11,233 MU of electricity in October 2025, representing a 16.5% YoY increase.
It posted a revenue of ₹1.83 billion (~$20.63 million), a 9.2% YoY increase from ₹1.67 billion (~$18.82 million), in the second quarter of the financial year 2026.
