India’s renewable energy buildout is entering a phase where transmission readiness is becoming as critical as generation capacity.

As solar, wind, hybrid, and storage projects scale across resource-rich states, the ability to shift clean power efficiently to demand centers has become a major priority. Transmission infrastructure must expand in tandem with renewable energy deployment to avoid curtailment, grid congestion, and stranded assets.

The sixth Mercom India Renewables Summit will bring together policymakers, developers, investors, manufacturers, utilities, and technology providers to discuss the next phase of the country’s clean energy transition and how transmission expansion can fast-track it.

Industry stakeholders will get together to share their views on ‘Transmission Infrastructure: Expanding the Energy Highway for Clean Power’ during an insightful session to be held on July 2, Day 2 of the event, at 3:25 PM.

The session will delve into how transmission planning, procurement strategies, equipment availability, and capital deployment models can support sustained growth in renewable energy. The discussion will also focus on the need for timely grid connectivity, stronger evacuation infrastructure, and coordinated planning between generation and transmission development.

The session will feature RK Tyagi, Director General at Power Foundation of India; Prashant Sinha, Chief Executive Officer at Resonia; Satish Talmale, Chief Executive Officer at Energrid; and D Sai Baba, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Power, Government of India.

The panel will discuss how India can strengthen its clean power corridors, address supply constraints in critical grid equipment, improve transmission readiness, and ensure that renewable energy reaches consumers reliably and cost-effectively.
