The Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) released the GERC Net-Metering Rooftop Solar PV Grid Interactive Systems (First Amendment) Regulations 2017. The regulations will be in effect from the date of publishing in the official gazette.

The GERC document states:

• Residential consumers in the state will be eligible to install a solar rooftop project of any capacity, irrespective of the sanctioned load.
• Consumers other than residential consumers need to ensure that solar rooftop capacity must not exceed 50 percent of sanctioned load during the first two years of the connectivity agreement.

Recently, the state government of Jharkhand announced it will provide a 50 percent subsidy to residential consumers installing rooftop solar and a 10 percent subsidy to commercial (industrial) consumers installing rooftop solar.
