Germany’s Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has invited bids for 282.72 MW of solar power projects under its latest tender for installations on buildings and noise barriers.
Bids must be submitted by February 2, 2026.
The tender volume represents the total solar capacity eligible for financial support under the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG).
The annual tender volume for this solar segment in 2026 totals 1,100 MW, evenly distributed across the three scheduled bidding rounds.
The maximum bid value for this auction is capped at €0.10 (~$0.12)/kWh, and the tender will be under a pay-as-bid pricing mechanism, meaning successful bidders will receive the tariff they offer.
While Germany’s Solar Package I envisages significantly higher tender volumes and lower minimum project sizes, these provisions are still awaiting European Commission state-aid approval. Until such approval is granted, the auction will proceed under the EEG rules applicable as of May 15, 2024.
Bundesnetzagentur recently set price ceilings of €0.0725 (~$0.085)/kWh for onshore wind and €0.10 (~$0.12)/kWh for rooftop solar project auctions to be held in 2026.
These price ceilings are slightly lower than those set for 2025. They account for the decrease in the forecasted levelized electricity costs and the latest auction rounds’ results. Without the latest determination, the price ceilings would revert to significantly lower limits set in the EEG. These prices would not have been adequate for most of the onshore wind and solar projects.
According to Klaus Müller, President of the Bundesnetzagentur, the new price ceilings create a framework that enables a large number of bidders to participate in the auctions.
Recently, the Bundesnetzagentur awarded a combined 1.09 GW of capacity in its latest auctions for solar installations on buildings, noise barriers, and biomass plants. Of the total capacity, 813 MW was awarded to biomass facilities and 281 MW to rooftop and noise-barrier solar projects.
In October this year, the agency invited bids for 2.32 GW of solar projects for which financial support under the Renewable Energy Sources Act will be available.
Germany added 4.3 GW of solar capacity in the third quarter of 2025, a 7.8% year-over-year increase from 4 GW.
