Germany’s Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has awarded 480 MW of capacity in the auction to set up solar-plus-storage projects.

The tender was issued on September 1, 2026.

The auction received 53 bids totaling 678 MW, with 32 applications found successful. Four bids were excluded from the award process.

The discovered tariffs ranged from €0.045 ($0.051)/kWh to €0.054 ($0.061)/kWh. The volume-weighted average tariff stood at €0.0514 ($0.058)/kWh, down from €0.0534 ($0.061)/kWh in the previous auction round.

Bavaria received the largest share of awarded capacity at 177 MW across 12 projects, followed by Brandenburg with 94 MW and North Rhine-Westphalia with 48 MW, each across four projects.

Bundesnetzagentur conducts innovation auctions under Germany’s Renewable Energy Sources Act. It holds two innovation auction rounds annually, on May 1 and September 1. The total innovation auction volume for 2026 was set at 950 MW.

Biomethane Auction

Bundesnetzagentur also awarded 6 MW of biomethane projects under its September auction.

The biomethane auction had an offered capacity of approximately 21 MW. However, it received only three bids totaling 6 MW. All three bids were successful.

The discovered tariffs ranged from €0.2307 ($0.2607)/kWh to €0.2313 ($0.2614)/kWh, with a volume-weighted average of €0.2312 ($0.2613)/kWh. The average was just below the auction’s ceiling tariff of €0.2313 ($0.2614)/kWh.

This August, Bundesnetzagentur invited bids for 296.27 MW of rooftop and noise barrier solar projects.

In the same month, the Federal Network Agency awarded 2,134.66 MW of solar projects under the July 2026 auction for ground-mounted solar power projects. The auction received 261 bids.  The tendered capacity for the round was 2,134.57 MW.

In June, Bundesnetzagentur awarded 482.4 MW of solar plus storage projects across 27 bids under the country’s innovation auction program. The auction had invited bids for 475 MW. The accepted bid values ranged from €0.0475 (~$0.054)/kWh to €0.0561 (~$0.064)/kWh.
